• You are naturally curious and eager to drive impact for both users and the business.
• You enjoy wearing multiple hats - we value experts but appreciate jacks of all trades.
• You thrive in a drama-free, calm, and systematic problem-solving environment.
• You love challenges and are always ready to roll up your sleeves.
• You believe in working smarter, not harder - prioritizing productivity and quality over punching the clock.
• Above all, you follow your passion and have fun while doing it.

Your Mission

Our Unicorns is looking for 2 Product Designers to help us deliver meaningful and inspiring product experiences for our users. In this role, you’ll support the General Manager and CPO by leading App’s product design efforts as a hands-on contributor and working closely with the cross-functional product team to get to know our users and uncover their needs and pain points by looking beyond the numbers to deeply understand how our users are interacting with and getting value from our product. The ideal candidate will have product design experiences in buckets and a creative sensibility that combines visual design and product design, and know how to build appealing and functional experiences. You are passionate about turning user tears into product cheers.

What you’ll be doing
• Set the design vision for App and lead design for the core product by driving its future vision, ensuring it integrates seamlessly with App's overall experience. Implement incremental steps to guide the team towards this vision.
• Design and advocate for appealing, intuitive, and accessible user experiences (think: functional, yet emotional). Balance the ideal experience with pragmatic scoping trade-offs based on technical constraints, experimentation strategy and business risk.
• Be responsible for all design artefacts produced; from initial discovery, user journey mapping, wireframing and prototyping through to the execution of final UI design details.
• Gain a deep understanding of the users you're designing for by joining user research sessions, learning from previous insights, analysing data reports, or conducting lightweight research.
• Partner with product management, user research, analytics and engineering to help drive the team through problem discovery to solution discovery to ensure we build the right thing.
• Collaborate and communicate in a way that amplifies the voice of our users, and influences the business and product strategy while being a strong evangelist of user-centred design. Remain humble and open to feedback while not shying away from expressing your own opinion.
• Help raise the bar for design at App. We’re a team where everyone plays a critical role in improving our community of practice.

What you’ll need to succeed
• You’ve extensive experience in designing world-class consumer products in a fast-growing company (yes, UX and UI are your besties). Your portfolio demonstrates your experience in shipping beautiful and functional products.
• You’re an expert in designing for both iOS and Android, but comfortable designing for desktops too.
• You care about the UI design details but are also comfortable zooming out, seeing the broader picture and connecting the dots to create a cohesive overall experience.
• You’re passionate about inclusive design and accessibility, and you’ll design with all our users in mind (not just the ones who look like our team).
• You understand that good design is not about trends but is built on top of principles and tradeoffs. You make well-reasoned design decisions, always advocating for the best possible user experience.
• You start from first principles. You’ve previously designed products that tackled long-standing user problems in a new way or otherwise broke from the industry status quo. You’re not satisfied with simply building the same product your competitors offer.
• You can work and communicate effectively with a diverse range of people and working styles to get stuff done, and can thoughtfully and constructively challenge and influence the people you work with.
• You understand that writing is designing, you're a confident writer, and the copy in your screens is never an afterthought.
• You are passionate about behavioural psychology, social products, Gen Z, and associated trends.

Bonus points:
• It’s great if you’ve worked on online dating, social discovery, community or entertainment products, but it’s not essential.
• Experience with motion design, animations and visual effects.
• Experience with 3D design and modelling.

The interview process
• Initial call with the people team to understand your motivation and background (30 minutes).
• Portfolio walk-through with the Hiring Manager to dive into 1-2 of your past projects (1 hour).
• Live design challenge focusing on your craft (1 hour).
• Final interview focusing on teamwork and impact referencing to your portfolio (1 hour).

Our average process takes about 2-4 weeks but we will always work around your availability. Being Speedy Gonzales is important to us as it is for you.

Equal opportunities for everyone
To truly represent our vibrant and diverse BlueThrone community, we prioritize diversity and inclusion. We are committed to fostering an environment where everyone can do their best work. We strongly encourage applicants of all backgrounds. We consider all candidates regardless of age, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, family or parental status, national origin, veteran status, neurodiversity, or disability. If you need reasonable adjustments at any point in the application or interview process, please let us know.

Join us in a role that's more than a job - it's a chance to be part of a transformative mission propelling mobile apps to unparalleled success.
